Phone engineers? Strange Talktalk vs BT glitch

My Dad just changed from Talktalk to BT phone & Broadband.
Since then I can't phone him from my talk talk landline. It just rings out.
He can phone out fine.
Other people can phone him no problem, so not a problem on his line.
Other people can phone me no problem and I can phone out fine, so not a problem on my line.
Confused

What on earth is going on??? I've phoned BT who checked his line (fine) so told me to phone Talk Talk, I'm guessing Talk talk will say the same, as my line is fine too.

My only possible line of enquiry is that BT had my number in case of queries with my Dad's order (he gets confuddled) ...could the two have been linked together somehow...?

Please help!

My initial reaction was that this is a BT end problem (since his end was changed and moved to BT) but if TalkTalk has not cleared their database of his details (as TT to TT calls are free, it makes sense they know whether to charge or not and in the case of TT to TT they probably route calls internally as much as possible) then that may be why the call never 'gets out' to his line.

If you have any friends or relatives on TT, the test might be to see if they can call him or not, because if they cannot, it suggests a TalkTalk problem. If you can show that 2 or more TT customers cannot ring him, then you can raise it with TT again (and threaten to complain to OFCOM if they don't make an effort to identify and cure the problem). Even if it's something to do with the BT end, if more TT customers cannot ring him then the starting point is with TT checking (and presumably they won't be able to reach him either).

Thank you NetworkGuy, I think I can test this with someone else I know on talk talk. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes you're quite right they can't phone him either. So I'll phone talk talk, I wonder if the cancellation of his contract hasn't gone through properly....
