Problems with "compatible" toner cartridge, any suggestions?

I have bought a compatible laser toner cartridge for my Samsung printer, and although I followed the installation instructions to the letter, I get an error message that the cartridge is not installed.

Having contacted the seller (via amazon) they sent me a new one, only that also doesn't seem to register with the printer.

Is there some kind of bypass step I can take so the printer picks up the fact that there is a cartridge installed?
Or should I just return both and get my money back?

Personally, I would return and get a refund if you can. Although compatible inks and toners seem a good idea, they can give inferior results, print smaller quantities, and even damage the equipment in a worst case scenario.

I think you're right.

Thanks
