stumbled by mistake onto Apple's US site, and there they are selling the iPhone 6 for $399, that's £250
Here it costs £699.
Is this all about contracts??

Crazy crazy amounts of money...

I have heard that their pricing is much lower in the States. The difference you quote makes me so mad. Especially, as I understand they are using tax dodges here. I would love to own an Apple 15 inch pro mac but for a 500 gbts model I would have to pay £2000. Wonder what the price is in America!

I just went on the U.S. site to check this out....

For a sim free 6 plus 64gb locked to t mobile it's $849 compared to an unlocked phone here costing £699

Unlocking by ee is £25 so although there is a price difference, it's not quite as much in real terms .... Probably around $100 more in the UK...

The U.S. Market and contracts etc are different to here.... Contracts tend to cost you more...

putthehamsterback - that sounds much more likely, to be honest, so now I'm totally perplexed about what I saw. Let me see if i can find it again...

Right, it's this - which says nothing about unlocking etc. and the prices are still the ridiculously low ones I quoted.

When you go to buy now, it's shown that those prices are on contract prices, not contract free; contract free for the 6 starts at $649.

ah, yes, that's when my computer bumped me back to the UK so I didn't see that bit.

as you say - v interesting how differently it's structured there.

I'd be more concerned about their pricing for additional memory. Go for 128Gb rather than 64Gb on the 6 Plus and it will cost you an extra £90. You can buy a 64Gb SD card for less than £25. No wonder they don't let you have a card slot.

There is no such thing as a cheap iPhone.

They are one of the biggest corporations with the most cash for that reason.
