I used to just leave them on my laptop but after losing all of our videos of dd1 when she was 4 due to our computer dying, I started putting them onto dvd-R discs.

I have been adding all the new videos onto the disc today and I finished, ejected the disc and put it back in to make sure it was ok. But now it is saying the disc is empty, so where have my videos gone?

Does anyone know if there is a better way of getting videos onto disc, or if there is a company I can use online to do it.?

Where have they gone - there may be somewhere that the disc image is sitting waiting to be written. It depends on the software being used.

I would assume that the files you had to start with are still on your hard disk, as you would not be moving them to Storage but copying them.

I use an external disc drive but I am aware that if that crashes then they may not be recoverable. Having a mirror backup may resolve that, though do you then need a mirror of the mirror just in case. At some point you have to accept the risk of loss.

Depending on size of the video clips and your internet connection, uploading them to hosted servers like DropBox, GoogleDrive, is worth considering as then there is another copy of the video existing somewhere off-site, so if there was a fire at your home, you still have the video.
