skype and microsoft/hotmail automatically connecting

My Hotmail and Skype accounts seem to have become linked. Whenever I sign into Hotmail (Microsoft live) from my pc, it automatically shows me as being online for Skype too. I can, however, still sign in to Skype using the usual Skype icon.

I understand that MSN messenger has merged with skype (and I don't have a problem with that) but I don't want my Hotmail connected with skype. Does anyone know how I can disconnect it?

Open Skype>>>> Click on File.>>>>Click on My Account ( new widow will open)>>>> Sign in, or it may do that for you>>>>>Scroll down to Settings and preferences and click on Account Settings >>>>>You will see the account details including the Microsoft one >>>>> Click on Unlink.
