windows 8.1 and the black screen

running windows 8.1 on desktop after you try to log in whole screen goes blank. tried to get access as administrator and it won't allow even though there are no other users/accounts. can anyone help?

f8 safe mode and then reboot to clear temp files?

dp has got it back. took hours mind, all the programs have disappeared and my music but at least it's back!

I have just spent £80.00 to resolve black screen problem on window 8.1, after trying Microsoft help line 0344 800 2400 in UK, took 4 calls, first person said never heard of this problem (this was the person who was meant to fix problem). Microsoft then sent disc for £9.99 which they ensured would work, but does not because you have a back screen. Microsoft then did do 1 follow up call, to say it must be hardware problem. I took it to local repair shop, the did a Diagnostic test, that proved it was software. The shop managed to reboot system and get going. This problem has been caused by Microsoft last update, this problem can be resolved if you get somebody on the Help line who knows what they are talking about to talk you though restore. Good news you have not lost any of your data, bad news this will happen again as Windows 8 automatically goes to black screen and you cannot access safemode.
