PAYG Sim with no expiry?

Hi all

DD is off to secondary school in September, and I've agreed to let her have a mobile phone as she'll be travelling there and back by coach with a 20 min walk home after that. I'd like to start her off with a pretty basic phone (calls and texts) with the carrot of something better if she looks after it (and that upgrade would be for her birthday). After all, she can always use the internet on her tablet at home.

Don't therefore really want to get stuck in a contract, but I'm a complete novice at PAYG sims. Lots of them seem to expire after 30 days. Does anyone know any that don't? Any recommendations?

TIA

We just picked up one of the ones from by the tills at tesco for dd. She's on an orange sim. She tops up by £10 which gives her 400 free texts and 100mb free Internet. She uses that for the first , month, then uses the rest of the 10 until it runs out.

Fairly sure Virgin don't.

I used to get great deals with 3 mobile before I went on contract with them but have a feeling the credit might expire after 3 months.

All PAYG tariffs expire, but you just need to send a text occasionally to keep it active. Most tariffs require a text (or other chargeable activity) every 6 months, but watch out for the handful of smaller operators with shorter expiry periods. Lots of information here. Tariffs change so check the information before you buy.

We just recently did this for my father, we found giffgaff were good on price, including monthly packages of data/minutes/texts with no contract.
