Iphone in toilet, touchscreen unresponsive

I dropped my iPhone 5s in the toilet last week and thought it was a complete goner. Confused It is insured but I want to try and back it up so it saves all my stuff but the touchscreen won't work. I have a pass code on it so that means that it won't back up without me entering the pass code. Have I lost everything? Is there anything I can do? Has anyone had experience of doing similar? So pissed off with myself! Angry

Can you plug it into a computer so it syncs automatically?

Sorry It's been a long time since I had an iphone so not sure if that is actually helpful or not.

I did that too. Then I put it in a box of rice in the hot press as advised by the internet. Sadly that didn't work, but a trip to the repair shop did. €290 later it was good as new. I literally cried when they told me how much it would be...in my defense it was the week before Christmas and I was a bit stressed out!

I'm sure yours can be saved - good luck Smile

Thanks for your reply! That is what I tried to do earlier, but it got so far then asked for the pass code, which I can't enter without the touchscreen. The screen was really dark when I tried turning it on yesterday but is normal brightness now. I will send it off to the insurance next week but am desperate to get all my baby's pics and videos off it first. Sad

Have you tried switching it off and leaving it in rice for 48 hours? Worked for me.

Can I just hijack slightly and ask who you're insured with? Only they don't usually cover water damage as it's the most common, and therefore the most expensive. I am convinced I am going to drop mine in water sooner or later!

Hope you get it sorted.

Dunno about iPhones but I had this with my samsung after a toilet drop.

I googled it and got an answer over the precise cause. Ordered a new part....some connector or another.....from china. Watched a YouTube video and fitted it.

Fixed that, then had fit a new antenna as it wouldn't make calls.

Had to buy a special mini screwdriver. But it was fixable.

It's been in a Tupperware box with rice since Wednesday. I'm still hopeful it will work just long enough for me to back it up to iTunes.

I got the phone through mobiles direct and got their insurance, not sure who it is though. They do cover water damage, I specifically checked when I took it out as I have done this before. Twice. Blush

The first time in a cup of tea. The phone survived. The second time (same phone) down the toilet.

I am an idiot.

Do you not have iCloud backup enabled? With it enabled it will backup all your data every time it's charging and connected to a wifi network,

Then on the new phone it will offer to restore from your iCloud backup

Ooh thanks, I'll look them up.

Good luck.
