My DD (13) is getting a lap top for homework. I know nothing of computers. If she wants to play Minecraft will this be too slow on a laptop?

Any suggestions for a decent laptop? I see ASUS mentioned a lot.

Yep laptops are perfect for minecraft, it is deliberately basic to make sure it can be played by players on all sorts of machines. My ds is currently playing it on a 5 year old dell, talking on Skype with all his pals at the same time. Loves it!

I wasn't sure, as although my laptop is quite new it tends to lag. So I downloaded the free demo from the official site, and yep, too laggy To play. I have it on ipad but wanted the full version- sadly can't afford new laptop so I got a ps3 second hand and got it on there!

Definitely recommend trying the demo.

If your laptop is fairly new it really shouldn't lag with a basic game like minecraft.

I added some extra RAM to my laptop after minecraft started to get laggy. Sorted the problem.

Ds1's laptop is about 3yrs old but Minecraft still works really well on it. I'd be surprised if it didn't work with a much newer one.
