Unblocking an iPhone 4

Does anyone know if this is possible? A lovely lovely person has given me an iPhone 4 but I need to unblock it to use my French SIM card.

Only Apple can officially SIM unlock iphone's so you will need to get your friend to contact the original contract provider.

Depending on the specific model and version of software you MAY be able to jailbreak it and do a software unlock but I don't recommend this as next time you update the phone it will lock itself again
