Please can someone help me choose a new camera?!!!

I a desperate! I've spent about 3 weeks spending every night reading reviews of cameras of all kinds and I just cant decide what to get!

I only have up to £250 to spend which I know is not a lot in camera speak.

Any kind hep that can be given would be most welcome!

What sort of photos will you want to shoot? Family/friends on days out sort of thing?

Are you looking for one with uncompromising quality (for the budget) or something light & portable that you can easily take with you?
