How do you get to Hobbiton in free play? Think I must be missing something!

If you go to the map it only seems to let you play the Black Rider level or Weathertop etc in free play, but DS I want to go to Hobbiton with Legolas and Gimli to complete some of the challenges.

You can't use most characters in the overworld (Hobbiton, Bree, etc) until you've unlocked them in the story - at the point where you have Legolas and Gimli in the party, you can take them to Hobbiton then. Alternatively, you could find the Mithril blueprints in various levels, buy the items with mithril bricks, and use those items to have the same abilities as the characters do.
