Need iphone help before bed time please!

I've just reloaded my email accounts on my phone - had some trouble with sending emails which that has now fixed.

BUT it now helpfully 'bings' everytime I have an email - which it didn't do before. So last night! it 'binged' a couple of times at silly o'clock . I leave the phone on as my eldest 2 are away at the moment (uni, gap year) so I like to know they can contact me so can't go into silent mode altogether.

So, oh wise geeky ones, how do I just turn off the email alert sounds?

Settings, sounds, new mail, none.

Settings > mail, contacts, calenders. . fetch new data . make sure 'push' is set to 'off' and fetch to 'manual'

There's two options the OP, the first will just mute it, but the second will save you in data costs!

You can also set the Do Not Disturb up on your phone between sleep hours but allows certain numbers to still ring. Ie your dc.
