Transferring a zip music file into iTunes?

Completely stuck. Have downloaded music onto a zip file but when I try to add file to iTunes I can't find it. No idea where I'm going wrong. Anyone got any experience of this?

Can you unpack the files from the zip and try again?

Hiya, yeah I tried that. I've 'unzipped' the file and can see it on my desktop but can't get it added to iTunes. It's driving me mad!
