Help, iTunes keeps freezing. What do I do now?

Don't know what the problem is - it just will NOT work. I open iTunes up, it freezes. I connect my iphone to it and it acknowledges that the phone's there, then the display ('Halsall's iphone') gets greyed out and it freezes again. Nothing will get it going.

I've opened it in safe mode as Apple suggest - still nothing. Tried it with a different user account on my PC - exactly the same.

I'm not a super-techie so the more esoteric advice when I google goes right over my head! But from a quick search, it seems to be a common problem.

Has anyone had this and solved it? I'm out of options.

I take it the machine you're running iTunes on is a Windows machine? Do you know which version of Windows?

I think you've been looking at this support article. I'm assuming before you go into trying to find conflicting processes and all that, you've tried rebooting the PC and the iPhone?

It's Windows 7. Yes, tribpot, that's the support article I was looking at...I rebooted both computer and phone several times and tried my ipad on it too. Still freezing! Angry

Right, so you know it's not the device if the same thing happens with the iPad. I would jump down to the instructions to do a complete reinstall of iTunes (step 5) but make sure you back up any content (music etc) that isn't already in the iTunes cloud.

Yep, I feared I might have to do that! Thanks, tribpot. Fingers crossed.....
