Our laptop is well and truly buggered (blaming over enthusiastic 4 year old...). No idea what's wrong with it, it wouldn't start properly, then tried to retrieve/fox windows, now when it turns on windows doesn't load at all....

Will it be possible to retrieve photo's etc? Not backed up..... Arrrrggggghhhhhh

Ideally you would have another laptop/PC in the house. You would switch off your broken laptop and remove the battery (if possible). Then find out how to remove the hard drive. You can then find out what sort it is and get a USB hard drive caddy to plug it into.

www.amazon.co.uk/Sata-Hard-Drive-Caddy-Enclosure/dp/B003MVVPZI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1389453008&sr=8-1&keywords=sata+to+usb+caddy

Now you have your precious data accessible via a USB cable to another working machine. You can then locate all your photos and copy them over.

This is all assuming that the hard drive is still functional. If the hard drive is corrupted then you will need specialist software to recover as much as possible.

If all this is too complicated, it is an easy (if time consuming job) for a PC repair shop to do for you.

Maybe search for your laptop and removing the HDD on youtube.

Cheers, think it's a job for the experts. We do have another laptop, but it's ancient.
