My trusty 4 year old ipad is running so slow.

I've cleared history and cookies. Any other ideas? Yes I've lots of stuff such as photos on here but never had this issue before.

Can't load facebook presently.

Shock

Any ideas gratefully recieved x

Not a geek, so my suggestions was going to be the temporary Internet files, but I see you've done that.

Are you all up to date?

Is your Internet ok?

Have you closed everything down and switched it off, left it 5 mins and turned it back on?

SledYuleCated · 03/01/2014 21:27

Really stating the obvious, but have you turned it on and off again? Couple of times I've found turning it off completely for 10 mins or so seems to clear whatever was making it drag.

Also resetting it, having done a full back up, of course.

Have you closed all the programmes you could be running?

Santabroughtmethis · 03/01/2014 21:31

Internet fine, only one tab open.

Switched it off and on last night when same thing happened made no difference Sad

have you turned off all the apps running in the background by double clicking the home button, holding down on app til it goes all giggly then closing them down

Uploaded IOS7?

Santabroughtmethis · 03/01/2014 21:48

I've tried closing apps but I double click the home button, then which ever app is running I click on it and it take me to that app

Ios7 was downloaded a while ago with no problems.

double click on the home button it will bring up the bar at the bottom with all the running apps, choose any one and hold it down then they should go squiggly but with a - sign on them, hit all them and they will close down

also if you have updated to IOS7 then check in the settings under general for background app refresh and stop some of them refreshing in the background as that will slow the ipad down

i have the orignal ipad and its slow on occasions but its down to age imo but still runs ok

If you're on iOS 7, after double clicking the button you need to swipe the apps/windows upwards to close them.

RustyBear · 04/01/2014 10:26

I'm wondering how you managed to get iOS7 on an original iPad? It's not meant to be compatible.
