Cracked iPad Mini screen - what are the options/costs?

It had to happen eventually.......DD2 left her iPad Mini on the floor, where it was promptly trodden on by 3yo niece.

The glass is unblemished, but something has happened behind the screen, whereby half the image is obscured and there is a jagged line through it.

So what are the options? I don't know if Apple can help, or do I just take it to a local repair place....? It is about 6 months old.

Not sure what Apple will do with regards to charging for repair but when my iPad glass cracked I got a local computer repair man to fix it for £60. Mine was 2 years old so I didn't bother taking it to Apple.

The glass isn't cracked, though, it's behind the glass that the damage is.

Any more ideas out there?

I think you have broken the touch screen display. Is it less than a year old, if so I think apple will replace it for about half price. Failing that I could suggest somewhere in cheshire that will repair it. HTH

Yes, it isn't very old, so I'll speak to Apple.

Useful to know the technical term for what is broken - when I Google "broken screen" I get lots of stuff about broken glass. When it's switched off it looks undamaged.

It is going to be pricy regardless.
