nikon d40 camera. HELP! How do I recharge the battery?

I bought the camera second hand 2 years ago and have basically not used it. Its a lovely camera, if old, and I now want to get into photography.

I am pretty sure I charged the battery up in the past as I've had it working long ago but I cant really remember.

All I can find in the camera bag is a usb cable and a tiny pin cable which goes into the camera itself.

Plugged into PC now but doesnt seem to be doing anything.

I have an Amazon plug (for my kindle) which plugs into the mains and has a USB slot. Dare I plug it in there?

Anyone have a Nikon with a similar Li-on battery? How does it recharge.

If it's anything like Canon's systems, they'll have a separate battery charger. In fact, googling 'Nikon D40 battery charger' brings up some helpful results.

Also, the online user manual might be of some help.

Many thanks. I googled the battery charger and it looked familiar so I raked around in the bottom of my wardrobe and found it!
