Fb - pages I like not on my timeline

There are about 50 pages I like on facebook and some of them never seem to appear on my timeline, while others do. Is there any reason for this? A couple of them in particular have posted rally interesting things recently that I have missed as they didn't show on my timeline. Any Facebook experts out there?
