Sorry if posting in wrong section...not sure where best.

DS was using iPad earlier and I overheard what I consider inappropriate language (on a Lego Justice League clip if all things!). I've double checked my settings and the search content I have marked as 'strict'...what else can I do to stop him hearing/seeing stuff he shouldn't (other than stopping him using it of course!)....

How old is he? I disabled YouTube completely on the retired iphone that dc3&4 use. They are 4 and 7 so only get to YouTube if I am with them on my iPad.

Trickier with older dc though. Dc1 is 12 and we talk a lot about internet safety and appropriateness(?) of what she does on there.

Dc2 is 10 and has YouTube switched off as an app but can access it via internet but I disabled safari and use a AVG Family for his internet access along with frequent conversations on what is ok for him to be watching and what isn't.

Parenting is a minefield in this technological age!

He's only 4 so I put search in for him, usually Batman toys...but he's clicked in one of the additional clips that show on right hand...it was Batman/Lego clip but had been dubbed over, that's where the language was...nightmare Hmm

I was shocked at how easy it is to find really unsuitable clips using quite childlike searchs - which is why it's now gone unless I'm doing it for them with the younger 2. There have been a few times where a song has started and I can't hit stop fast enough GrinBlush

Even the strictest of web filters will not be sufficient to cut out everything which you might find inappropriate. The internet really isn't a suitable place for younger children. I would block all web access from their devices. There's no need for them to be using it.

The best filter is you. Internet access should be supervised. I'm sure most of us here never had proper internet access until we were at least in our late teens. Didn't do us any harm!
