Please tell me why I need 4G or don't?

Phone is due for an upgrade. The more expensive packages are 4G, the more affordable not. What will I be missing if I don't go for 4G please? I use my phone for limited calls, around 200 texts per month and limited internet usage ie emails, browsing.

I think it's more important if you want to use your phone for lots of music/video. I don't think email checking and a bit of browsing warrants the expense.
