I have just discovered the Office 2007 discs that came with our PC. Can I use them to install Microsoft Office on a new laptop?

Do you have the activation code for the discs? If so go for it,the only trouble you may have that some versions(think it was home and student)were for installation on one PC only but you dont know until you try and if it doesnt work you havent lost anything.

Activation code?! The disc says licensed for distribution with a new PC only. Do you think that's the kiss of death?!

Is it in a box or in a envelope,is there a long code with it,I may be wrong but Office normally need an activation code otherwise one disc could serve 100,s of PC,s.Some versions could be installed on several PC,S.some only on one,all depend on the licence issued with it.

Well on the packet (folded envelope-type CD case) there is a long number with letters too.
