copy and paste, what am I doing wrong?

My laptop (or my lack of skills) are driving me nuts. I want to put a presentation together, with pictures copied and pasted from internet. BUT when I try to copy and paste a new picture, it just pastes the last picture I used. Can't find a way round it, what am I doing wrong?? Sorry if I'm being dim.

Are you sure you're copying the new picture first?

Well I'm right clicking and clicking copy. Then when I paste I get the previous picture. My son has been trying to do a presentation for hmwk this morning and he's having the same problem. Grr.

Is the picture protected ?

Ah,I hadn't thought about that. Next time it happens I'll try pasting a, picture that, def isn't protected and see if, that works. Thanks for, the tip.
