Is it a personal blog? If so, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't recommend going with the cheapest, they won't necessarily be the best. Often you'll end up paying more because the package is so limited, or you'll get really bad support, or the 'up' time is bad so your blog will often disappear for hours.

Most hosting services do offer WP support though, and usually have an automatic installer in the control panel, so you don't have to set it all up yourself. Also, don't be tempted by deals that offer free domain names, usually you won't actually own the name, the company will buy it and let you use it. So, if you decide to move elsewhere you can't take it with you.

When I first started my website I used www.000webhost.com. Their free package is enough to get started.

They gave me enough to get my Wordpress site up & running. The only downside is that because it's free, the speeds are not the best. As time went on, I found I needed more power so I've switched to a virtual server now.

But when I got started and if it's just a personal page then I recommend them wholeheartedly.

I use TSOhost. UK based servers and support.

Migrated from wordpress.com and found that ok. Do a site backup on wordpress.com first.

Templates were an issue, could not find the same template as I used on wordpress.com so expect to need to use a new design.
