Help with iPod please

Hi there, my dd has asked for an iPod for christmas, she only wants to play music on it so doesn't want a iPod touch. If I buy her the newest iPod nano will it be compatible with my iPhone 4S charger or do I have to buy a different one. Also are the docking stations easy to come and cheap to come by. I would be happy getting her an older model but I am not sure what I am looking for. Thank you for your help I am not really up with all the gadgets so I don't want to buy the wrong thing.

The latest nano uses the Lightning connector, which I think is the same as on the iPhone5 but not on the 4. I'm pretty sure there are adaptors you can get, but the ipod should come with it's own charger and cable to connect to a computer.
With the docking stations, there are loads around and some are very cheap - you would need to check the connector on them, but again, I would expect there to be adaptors available.

They don't come with mains chargers. They do come with a cable to connect to a computer, which is sufficient to charge it with as well.
