Boring thread, sorry - iPad 4 or iPad Air?

Is the Air much better? I am buying one for my autistic dd to help her with her communcation. I've noticed that I could get a iPad 4 with 32GB for the same price as a iPad Air which has 16GB.

Any advice?

I've not got one, but have been looking. I spoke to the guy in my local independent retailer the other day about Ipads. He said the Ipad 3 & 4 weren't going to be in production for long, now that the air (5) has come out. However the Ipad 2 was very popular & still available, maybe worth considering if it's the budget aspect that you're concerned with.

Ipad 2? Confused how come there are still so many?

I am thinking the reason you should not buy one that is going out of production is that if it breaks you will not be able to get a replacement?

Sorry, I am very behind with this stuff. I don't have a iPhone and my Macbook is about 7 years old.

Apple have withdrawn the 3&4 so that there is more of a difference between the air and the 2.

You can still get 3&4s if the shops still have them. Apple are not selling them though.

If you can get a 4 you might as well get a 4 as the memory will be far more useful to you than the better display.

But if I get a 4 and it has a fault, presumably I run the risk of not being able to get a replacement?

Apple are really good with their replacements and repairs. We just took in an old itouch and they replaced it with a refurbished one.

I've had a 16gb memory for years and it's been fine because I use my ipad to read the paper and MN and watch tv. Not to play games so I do t have a huge minecraft to store or any music or films. It just depends what your dd wants to do on it.

if you can get to an apple store you could get some advice on what she might need.

Thanks Savoy. We do have an Apple store quite nearby so perhaps I'll go and look. At the moment John Lewis are doing 3 years guarantee for no extra cost so that seems like a good offer too. But they only do the iPad Air I think.
