Can you recommend a robust tablet for dd 8 not too £££

dd would love and ipad and an iphone. As I have neither, she won't be getting either Grin

I would like to get her a tablet which she can use for Skype and games mainly. I'm a bit of a technophobe, are there games that can be downloaded and played without being connected to the net so that when we travel she is not dependant on a net connection.

She is not the most careful of kids so something robust or at least can have a bullet proof cover.

Don't want to spend more than £100, ideally around £60 would be good.

I hear good things about the one at tesco (hudl?). It's a bit over the one hundred mark but if you have club points, it could work out very nicely.

Thanks nicename, i'll give it some thought but it's a bit more than I want to pay and I don't have a clubcard anymore as i'm not in the u.k. I can buy in the u.k though as coming over in a couple of weeks.

I'm not sure you'll get one much cheaper than the Hudl OP!

Paleodad · 04/11/2013 21:44

this is the one DD will probably be getting for her birthday in a month, and it's probably the cheapest you can get with decent specs.
Not as good as the hudl, but perfectly adequate for a child i think.
That said, there are tons of better tablets in the £50-100 price range with equal spec to the hudl, many of which need to be directly ordered from chinese suppliers, so allow at least 3 weeks for delivery.
To get an idea, search 'tablets' on amazon, and specify you price range in the left column. if you want to post links here to any you find i'm happy to take (an unqualifed and strictly amateur!) look at them.

[http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8141208.htm Samsung Galaxy 2 at Argos reduced to £110] is worth comparing with the Hudl. It's reduced because the Galaxy 3 is out and they also have a deal on at the moment where you get £20 in vouchers back (£10 in the 'spend £100 get £10 back' and £10 back on tablets over £100).

I may have accidentally bought one the other day.

You broke the Argos website!

Grin A little bit of the blame might also lie with the lovely vipers on the Christmas bargain thread(s).

DelGirl · 05/11/2013 21:09

Thanks all. Will have a look at the ones suggested, assuming I can get on the site Wink
