Looking for a Christmas present for a 15 year old. Any advice for buying a tablet under £200 please. I don't know a thing really!

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

7" screen so it's not the largest but at that price (£99) and for a teenager it should be more than good enough.

Tesco's Hudl is a really good value tablet; quad processor, glass screen, memory card slot, HD display, microHDMI connection, runs Android 4.2.2.... all for 120 quid

We got an HD Nook which we've been very happy with, and it has an SD card for more memory

Don't get a Kindle Fire. Its not proper android and is totally tied into Amazon, no access to Google play etc.

The Nexus tablets are great , really really good spec for the money, even though there is now a new version out.

Thanks for the info on the Kindle Fire. I did wonder about that from looking. That's one possibility off the list then...

Our Dd saved up for a nexus 7 last year. Been absolutely perfect for what she needs but just recently the battery life is really bad. ( probably overuse!)

Theas18 · 01/11/2013 19:00

Nexus are good, but my 3 had the galaxy tab 2 each last year and they are all still loving them ( 20.17.14 yrs). The youngest doesn't exactly make hers work hard but ds uses his for a level work etc as well as all the other stuff .

Dh has a hudl as we had enough tesco points and that's great too.. The tesco apps are a bit of bloat ware though.

Definitely get one that will take SD cards though - 32gb memory or more is great for them to add.

The Tesco hudl I bought has been impressive.

oscartopia · 03/11/2013 21:19

Have you checked out the Acer Iconia ?

Mosschops30 · 03/11/2013 21:37

Can you download apps to the hudl? Mainly games I'm thinking of as that's all ds1 wants one for but he's asked for a mini iPad Shock

Theas18 · 03/11/2013 22:23

Mosschops you just use google play store
