Lost bookmarks and random notes since upgrading to iOS 7.0.3 ...

I can't find the last last thread re the ios7 upgrades but since doing the latest upgrade at the weekend, I have now lost all my favourites and random notes. For example, I have a note created on Friday morning pre-upgrade but not one created several months ago. I have never used (to my knowledge) iCloud either. I have checked the settings under notes and safari and can't see anything.
Does anyone have any idea where they have been saved to?

I haven't done the upgrade yet but I did manage to lose some of my notes the other day! One of them being a rather important one! Spent ages looking for it and finally found it in my email account under the notes section!! Don't know if that will help at all?

I've tried that but can't see anything looking remotely like it. Unless I'm looking in the wrong place. When you say in your email account, where were you looking? I've tried going to the web version of Virgin media from the net but don't see any documents. This is annoying me now as nothing went awry after the 7.0.1 & 7.0.2 upgrades.

Glitter I haven't upgraded yet to 7 and I've been losing notes since I first goy my ipad a couple of years ago.

Sorry, pressed post too soon. I looked it up on google a few months ago and couldn't find a 'cure', but it seems to be a fairly common problem.

No joy via Virgin media :( no such thing as a notes folder.

Somehow I had the most recent notes on iCloud. I have no idea how. But I had backed up the iPad to iTunes before upgrading to iOS 7 so I restored the back up.
I have now synced up this back to iCloud so everything is there and backed up to iTunes/PC again. Everything is now where it should be.
Friends recommended the Evernote app which is free and has more functionality eg bold/italics and the ability to search a note so I am using this now!
