Help! how do you make name labels?

I've been asked to make some name labels and blithely said yes, and now I can't work out how to do them. Can you help me?

I have Publisher 2012 and Word 2007. I need to put in just a few words and a logo. I have 17 to do.

Help!

I guess it's not what people really feel like writing about on a Sunday.

Oh Lord! I think I've got it. (pants heavily)

What sort of labels are you talking about?

Is it the peel off a sheet of 21 labels and slap on to top style or specific large badge style?

It's a 9cmx 5.5 cm badge with a logo and a name. It should be printed on card really, but I may have to use paper. They are to go inside a little plastic pin badge.

Um. I'd use a table in Word set to those dimensions. Then design and print.

I hate labels... Grin

I ended up importing a template into word. It seems to have worked ok. It's very awkward cutting them out though as the margins are around what you actually want as the badge IYSWIM. A table would have been good but I panicked at the dimensions and then found the template, Darn fiddly.

Thanks for your help. It does seem to be a bit of a blind spot, software-wise (although I can't believe that's true really; I just don't know any better).

You used to be able to use mailmerge - there was a labels setting, so you chose the name of the label (from the side of the box), or there was also a custom setting where you put in your own dimensions.

I use the past tense as i haven't done this in ten years, but i can't imagine it's changed much.

You can use mailmerge, you're right. I couldn't get it to put in my logo though and, again, got a bit panicky and gave up!

Avery have an online application to do it, which gets the sizes exactly right.

Thanks for that. I'll know next time Me and my crafty scissors have made a decent enough job of it for now.
