Which Nintendo ds?

Ds2 has a battered 3rd hand ds lite.

I was thinking of buying him a 3dsXL for xmas. Does anyone know if it will play normal ds games, or whether its worth it or should i be buying a kindle fire or similar?

Yes the 3DSs play all games.

I got my DS one for his birthday after his old one broke & he can play all his old games too.

Ds got one with his birthday money after having had a ds lite for years - he can still play all his old games on it, new ones are v expensive though

Dd has the 3ds xl and gets loads of use out of it. £150 in tesco at the minute which I reckon is the cheapest.
