I've just got myself an android tablet for the first time (A hudl if that makes a difference) and I wondered if any of you had any hints and tips about the best things to do with it?

I've downloaded the OU app to see if I can study on it and I have got iplayer, ITV player and 4OD. Is there anything else that's a 'must have' please?

Guess that depends on what you want to do with it - tv/films, books, games, productivity, banking... Or do you just want to explore all the possibilities?

You can do pretty much anything! I run my life from android devices lol

Calendar is vital -I use a google calendar syncd with DH and shared with the kids

Notes app of some sort

Communications app for messaging - tango/Skype or similar.

Tune in radio and beyond pod for podcasts.

Kindle and moon reader ( for non kindle book)

All the tv stuff

Email

Google drive and drop box

Quick office for documents

The amazing camscanner app ( snap Smething eg a school letter and it's saved as a PDF for hen ou loose the original)

Try those for a start lol. I do a lot for work and Dropbox/gdrive integration helps that. The rest run the family in theory and entertain me

Ooh I'm going to get a Hudl at the weekend.
Mainly for Netflix and sofa surfing.
Is it ok for watching I player on?

Thank you. I'm not too sure what I want to do with it I just didn't want to be a year or two down the line and have people say, 'oh you could have just...' but I guess that's bound to happen.

I've tried iplayer and the picture quality is amazing! I didn't realise you could download things for a short time so that is brilliant.

That camscanner things sounds great, I can have fewer bits of paper clipped to my calendar! I use google calendar so I'll keep that on here too.

Thank you all.

Decision made then. I was a bit concerned about the screen resolution and considered the new nexus 7. But if the video is ok then it's a hudl for me c

I think a hudl ifs a good first tablet especially if you don't really know what you want it to do for you. I think the kindle fire though it's a bit cheaper, it's too tis to the small android market ( unless you root it and that is way too much for me to do! )

otherwise you are looking at getting on for twice the cost for a nexus tablet. these are nice but I'm not sure they are that much nicer, and you'll probably replace it in a year or two anyway!

I have Asus and Samsung and they are both very good. Don't go for a no name cheapy. I have made that mistake and have 2 dead tablets. Complete waste of money.
