Thinking of a cheap laptop for DS for Christmas, mainly for school work and surfing the internet. Would this be any good? It seems very cheap!

Last year we had the Nexus and it's been brilliant, we all love it.

If the chromebook isn't any good, what would you recommend?

TIA

My only issue with the chrome book is there isn't word on it and that's what my dc use for homework. You can use google docs on it, but I don't understand it (I am far too used to windows, word).

Oh, ok. Does google docs do what Word does? Would it be compatible with school?

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, it does the basics of being able to type a document. I don't think there is much choice in terms of font. Formatting in google docs my dc can't figure out, but can on a pc. It's good enough for basic homework.

I don't know the price difference between the chrome book and the cheapest lap top. Might be worth researching that.

I love our Chromebook. You don't need anti virus, it updates itself, boots up in 7 seconds. It's slim, lightweight and the battery life is remarkable.

I have an ipad but sometimes you need a full keyboard.

Google drive does a lot of what word does plus there is a google App Store so you can add on different things to meet your needs.

There are some free online resources you can use, like this

We don't seem to turn our PC on anymore since getting the ipad and the chromebook.

I was going to post the same question as the OP. Can I just ask why you don't need anti virus?
