Sims 3 won't install - what am I doing wrong?

I've just got this on disc but I cannot install it for love nor money and it's driving me nuts! Origin won't accept the code and sends me to the EA website to register. That tells me it's not a valid code but then I get a message saying I have registered the game but it still won't install. What do I do next?

Is the code from the back of the guidance booklet in the case? As I know that some people have been sold discs but not the correct code. Though you shouldn't need to do it through origin of you have the disc. It mayalso that the previous owner has already registered it online if you can't if it's second hand??

It's the code in the box and it's brand new from Amazon. It's sent me an email to say I've registered it but I still can't install it. Maybe it is the wrong code for the CD. I can't find a way to install without going through Origin unfortunately.

What's the exact error message that Origin is giving you?

When I put the code into Origin it says "We're sorry this code cannot be redeemed here. Please redeem your code at the following site" and then links to EA where I can register it but not redeem it. When I register it at EA it tells me the code is invalid but it would appear that I have registered it because they've sent me an email saying thank you for registering. However, it still doesn't appear in my game library and it's very hard to contact them direct.

I am becoming disillusioned with the whole thing.

I had this with my DD Sims 3, I just googled a code and used that, worked for us.
