Where to buy a laptop

Where can I buy a laptop that's not PC World? My current PC is a piece of crap and always has been. It came loaded with all kinds of shit that seems to make it run really slowly and unreliably. I also don't believe they sold me the computer that was most suitable and instead just pushed the one that was on offer that the salesman was getting the most commission on.
So where else is there? It seems like PC World have the monopoly. I don't want to get a Mac as the software I need for work doesn't come in a Mac version so I'd have to run Windows on it as well, which sounds like a potential nightmare!

To be honest pretty much all laptops will come with crapware nowadays since the software developers pay the manufacturers to preinstall them. The margins on PC/laptops are so tight there's hardly anything in it so the revenue from crapware is important to the manufacturers.

Tesco Extra tend to have a good selection to look at. Have a look there maybe but you are right that they seem to have quite a monopoly in the retail channel.

If you don't mind buying online then I got my wife's laptop from here: Saveonlaptops

For peace of mind, go to John Lewis. Reasonably priced with knowledgeable staff and two year guarantees on all PC's.
