Why is my Kindle Fire going slow?

Am a complete technophobe and have no idea what to do. It was fine until a few days ago and all of a sudden it's taking ages to look up all my favourite stuff. Just so slow. Books are fine, email is fine - just seems to be struggling with letting me Mumsnet! Anybody else had this and if so how did you fix it?

My sons Kindle fire did this, it was due to the games and apps he had loaded that were taking up so much memory/space. I deleted a few of the games (and added a book or two ) and it has been fine!
