Best anti-virus for new laptop?

I've got a new windows laptop and am wondering what anti-virus to install. I'd prefer it to be free - am I right in thinking AVP (or called something like that ) is a good one?

You're thinking AVG free edition, which is good. I'm currently using Panda Cloud which is great. It runs on the cloud too, so isn't processor heavy. www.cloudantivirus.com/en/#!/free-antivirus-download

AVG, that's the one! Will download that I think. Will the cloud one work on a non-apple device?

The Cloud one is only for non-Apple systems (system requirements say Windows XP, Vista, Win 7 or Win 8 !!)

If you bank with Barclays, they supply you with FREE anti-virus SW Kaspersk. I use it without problems, just renewed it for the 2nd year.
