Facebook friend suggestions?

Does anyone know how Facebook determines friend suggestions? I seem to have a lot of friend suggestions with no links to me including 'celebrities''.

it will include people who are friends with your existing friends, or who appear to have similar interests to your existing friends and their friends. It will also look at any 'pages' you've liked, or your friends have liked, interests you've listed, films you've watched, music you've listed etc.

Basically, it's people/things you could conceivably be interested in given everything you've told facebook about you, including the sort of people you are friends with.
