Just that really.

DS's went through the washing machine this morning and i've read lots of post on the internet about drying it out in a bown of rice (it's in one at the moment).

BUT does it actually work?

Put it in your airing cupboard for a few days. Don't be tempted to switch it on for a few days either. worked for us.

Yes it does work,I have several phones and two laptops that have all been soaked, dried in a bowl/bag of rice, all still working.

Very reassuring to know that it might actually work.

DS has gone off to Sports Camp very upset and feeling suitably guilty that he'd left it loose on his duvet cover that i scooped up and put in the wash.

Chanatan how on earth did you manage to soak 'several phones and two laptops that have all been soaked'. Did you not learn after the first time or are you just accident prone with your gadgets?

My iphone went through the wash. We immediately put it into a big bowl of rice and didn't touch it for a week. It dried out and would switch on again but the touch screen never worked reliably again and DH (who put it into the machine!) replaced it.

Hopefully you are much luckier than I was!

Mine didn't survive being dropped in a cup of coffee I'm afraid. I tried to dry it out by putting it in a bag with those silicon sachets you get in new handbags and shoeboxes.

Apple have very good customer service and replaced mine (top spec at the time) for the price of a battery as they could see it was otherwise well looked after. It cost me £59 I think.
