Editing video - what am I doing wrong?!

Finally editing a lot of clips some Avi files (from iphone) and some m2ts (from my video cam). I thought it would be simple to use the windows movie maker, import them all and join together but the m2ts files just turn to fuzz when I publish a video.

What am I doing wrong? Should I be using better software?!

I would suspect that you do not have the codec installed for m2ts... whatever m2ts is! m2ts may just be the wrapper, the video inside the wrapper may be encoded using a codec of some type.

CNET: Media Player Codec Pack Plus
Could try this codec pack. It contains a lot of different codecs so chances are one might work.

Then once you can playback the video on your computer, with luck media maker will be able to import it.
