Windows 7 or 8?

Which would you prefer for a laptop without touchscreen?

8 is clunky and designed more for tablets IMHO.

Agreed. Win8 has been getting such a hard time that MS are having to backtrack significantly and put a "start"y button back in. It's not 100% going back but a significant climbdown.

Defintely Windows 7. Win 8 is optimised for touch screen and the upcoming 8.1 is in reaction to poor customer feedback. If you had a touch-screen it would be worth getting, but 7 is a great OS.

Dd's laptop has windows 8 and its just horrible! They have put the start button on for her in the shop now to make it a bit easier to use.
