Mine's multicoloured now - looks like a nursery setting and is giving me a headache. Does anyone know how to send it back to normal?

In Gmail, near the top right hand corner should be a box with a gear symbol in it. Clicking the gear should reveal a menu from which you can select "Themes".

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much - I will give that a go (it's only on tablet, thankfully).

Nope, settings on my tablet (Nexus 7) don't seem to allow themes to change. My settings on the PC are as they always have been and the two are synched. Do you have any more ideas?

Ah, if it's on a tablet then I'm afraid you're out of luck - the new version of the mobile app was released a few days ago and that's just what it looks like now!

Catsandtheirpizza · 06/06/2013 15:01

Seriously? It's driving me nuts.

Thanks for letting me know though - I'll stop wasting my time trying to change it.

on my nexus i access gmail online rather than use the app. I dont like the app- you could try that

CatsAndTheirPizza · 09/06/2013 18:06

Thanks Aladdin - I think I'll try that.

Think I might have found a solution: from your inbox screen, go into Settings, then General Settings, and untick the box next to "Sender image".

CatsAndTheirPizza · 24/06/2013 17:09

Thanks Holla, I'll try that.

It worked. Thanks so much Holla, it had been driving me mad.

Yay! :)

CatsAndTheirPizza · 27/06/2013 10:03

Holla do you mind if I ask you something else?

I am finding that I can't delete more than one e-mail at a time in gmail on my tablet now - do you know of a way of highlighting more than one at a time for deletion?

Thanks

Yes! When you're in your inbox (or any other folder), long-press an email to select it, then tap any others you want to select at the same time. Then you can delete/archive/label them all at once. :)
