Putting videos on iPhone

I'm trying to get some films onto my phone from my tv box. I've managed to record on to a DVD using the DVD recorder, then ripped it to computer, but neither the avi or mp4 files I've managed to convert to have worked.

Anyone done this simply (or not so simply!)? Just went to put The grufalo and some cbeebies programmes on there...

You put them into iTunes first and then you can sync them across using iTunes.

Yep, managed to get the mp4 file to add to the iTunes library but failed to sync to phone as said the file type couldn't be played on phone...

I think it's probably the quality of the video. Have a look at this thread and see if it helps. I normally use Handbrake to convert stuff for the iPhone - it has a preset specifically for the iPhone to make it easier.
