Help needed - Samsung mobile email issues

BlueSkySunnyDay · 21/05/2013 16:21

Have set up Samsung phone to received email via IMAP - It is working but when we delete emails from the phone it just receives them again (so far have done it 4 times)

Is there a way of stopping that?

Also does it only use wi-fi to download emails? We are used to just doing it via Blackberry system.

Help appreciated as we are trying to decide whether to stick with the Samsung or go back to the Blackberry.

Which Samsung phone have you got?

If it's a GMail account, are you using the GMail app or some other (ie the default mail client that may show as an envelope on some Android phones) ? Think I had to download the GMail app, on each of my (6+) Android phones and tablet etc.

If it's not GMail, have you used IMAP from a PC and does that work OK? Might be a mail server problem...

(unlikely but not impossible... have you asked mail service provider {eg business IT department or ISP} about it?)

I think he's given up on this and gone back to the blackberry, I guess when he upgrades he will go for the blackberry touch screen phone

We contacted PlusNet, they said "we have spoken to people in our office and no one who has a Samsung has experienced the same problem, so it must be your phone"

Holla it's the x-cover - he liked the fact that its really tough.

Not using gmail, that's what I use successfully on my phone - H wanted to receive the home emails, the plusnet.com ones to his mobile. To be brutally honest i'm not sure how advisable that is anyway, he's a bit gullible, he informed me this week that he'd had an email saying he had a problem with an account and could he enter details. I had to stress "do not do ANYTHING, leave the admin to me"
