sim card into a new iphone4??

I've took delivery of a new iphone4 this evening - it comes with no instructions. I can't get the sim card into the slot! My geeky mate is . We've been on youtube which talks about a paper clip to open the tray. Tried that. No response from the tray.

FFSake. What is the answer? Please?

You shud have a paper clip thingy with your phone but if not a paper clip will do, just push it in the hole. You are using a mini sim aren't you?

And when you do find the paper clip thingy, or your own makeshift one, you have to push it with a leeeetle bit of pressure (not to much) and it should pop straight out (the little case for the sim I mean)

Yes, we have the tray out! thanks. Not easy. Now the mini sim doesn't load so as to allow the tray to reinsert with the card....I hate this. We are trying combinations...

Hell. Should the gold contact surface be up or down? And should the cut away corner be foward right or rear left. Why isn't it going in?
