Just that really - can't see avg or similar in App Store, only macafee which I hear bad things about. Do I need anti virus or firewall or anything?

Welcome to IOS. You don't need anything, unlike Windows it's bulletproof.

Trojan targets Mac. 600000 Apple computers infected via fake Adobe update. Those Apple users who continue to say there are no viruses for Mac and iOS are burying their heads in the sand.

Sophos have an antivirus for ipad and iphone.

Really?? Oh dear. Certainly not bullet proof.

No point in arguing over this one.

Unless you jailbreak your ipad there's no need to worry about viruses. The only place you can install apps from is the Apple store which thoroughly vets programs before being allowed onto the store. So the chances of getting a virus is near zero.

The mac does not run IOS, it runs OSX. This is no longer bulletproof and there are viruses. But in the grandscale of things the chance is still extremely low compared to a Windows PC to the point where i'm perfectly comfortable running my mac without any antivirus. On my Windows PC it's the third thing I install. First being the OS, second being Google Chrome.

In short I agree with zeeboo

I wouldn't bother installing any anti-virus for all the reasons niceguy says. Nobody I know has anti-virus for their iPads. It's so nice generally not or worrying about these things, unlike when you use any clunky, vulnerable Windoze Grin
