best tablet (in an ict sense!) for elderly in laws

my in laws (who are both in their late seventies) want to get online and have decided a tablet is the way to go (good idea i think). can anyone suggest what the best one is for someone with no experience of computers at all?

I'd probably say the ipad 2 then. It's light and has a great screen with a long battery life.

Ipad's are still better and easier to use than Android tablets. The whole platform is still more mature than Android.

It's so simple even when my DSS was 2.5 he was using our ipad to launch apps and play simple games.

My mum and stepdad love their ipads. Easy to use, zoom in so they can see things. Agree that toddlers can use them, 2 year old I care for uses all sorts of apps when let loose on my ipad.

As long as you go and set them up with wireless broadband router, config the ipads, they will be away in no time.
