Kindle screen showing big white areas and lines

DD's Kindle has big white areas and little lines all over the screen and it appears to be "jammed" on this. I've looked at the troubleshooting page and currently have it on charge, as not sure whether it's charged or not, but any other ideas to cure it please? TIA.

Oops sorry - if nothing works, contact Amazon customer services and they will send you a new one

Is it still in warranty? Amazon are usually pretty good at replacing or repairing.

It came from Tesco, so should I go through them or Amazon please?
