DVDs on the wii

Someone told me you can watch DVDs on the wii but ours doesn't seem to recognise them. Does anyone know if I'm missing something? Thanks.

I didnt think you could. We watch them on the PS3

there is a way but its more complicated than sticking a dvd in the machine:

You can stick an SD card in and view photos though. (Totally not helpful tip).

Corrected. DS says you can play dvd. I wish I had knwon then I could use it for my shred etc. More space in that room.

I just googled it and you cant play a dvd without modifying the Wii or putting the dvd onto an sd card
